August Real Estate Feature

We decided to do something different with this month’s Real Estate Feature. Instead of featuring a place to live, we’re featuring a place to stay.  The Garden Manor Bed and Breakfast sits at 108 North 20th Street, and provides travelers and locals alike with a unique place to stay while visiting the historic Olde Towne East and King Lincoln Districts.

Built somewhere around 1895, the Garden Manor Bed and Breakfast property was officially listed on the Columbus Register of Historic Properties in 1989.

The property was originally built as the office and residence of Dr. Lewis M. Early, M.D. and his wife Lulu. Dr. Early was a pioneer in the development of x-ray technology for medical use.  In the 1940’s it was used as a Bed & Breakfast for visiting African American musicians who played the famous jazz clubs on Mt. Vernon Avenue and Long Street. In 1974, it became the home of the Garden Manor Cultural Arts Center serving as an outreach to aspiring young African American artists and entrepreneurs.

Read the full history of the amazing property.

This lovingly restored historic property is truly breathtaking with stunning architectural details, fine antique furniture, and carefully tended gardens. It is a true gem of the Near East Side.
